There is a monster in my room

Miss Kylie Mae has had a VERY difficult time sleeping the past few weeks. She comes out of her room between 5 and 10 times before she actually falls asleep and has been waking up around midnight again for a few hours on and off! We have attempted to bribe her with a reward and have taken privillages away, but nothing seems to work. Yesterday, I did some "play therapy" with her (thanks Jocelyn) and came to the conclusion that she is afraid of monsters in her room. She hasn't verbalized this yet, but it was VERY apparent through her play that this is the issue. We will be giving her a few more night lights in her room, but were wondering if anyone else has any magical ways of ridding monsters from her room? Please feel free to leave some advice..we are desperate (for sleep)!

Hey Kara,
I have not (as yet) had to deal with "monsters" but, I have read that a potion (maybe colored water with some favorite scent)can be made and spritzed around the room just like bug spray!! I've heard it works really well. Let me know how it works for you.

Hey hun,
Dr. Chamberlain would tell you to give her special monster wand to have in her bed. When she thinks there are monsters, the special wand will wave them away.

Try it.

Hmmm....monsters. Brilyn has dinosaurs (orange ones). Taking her seriously and hunting around for them before she goes to sleep seems to help. Maybe she thinks- "Well, mommy knows they are here, and she'll take care of them."
Or, maybe she thinks-
"Ummm...now that I try to show them to mommy, I realize that there is nothing here."
Thanks, Kara, for being the only person to comment on my last post. There is a new post now- go see the pics from Nicole's wedding.
XOXO

Hi Kara...great blog! There are some good ideas here. They are her monsters so she is the best one to help you come up with the solution!
